4. What is the difference between a manufactured cabinet and a locally built custom cabinet?

The difference between a locally built cabinet and a manufactured cabinet is profound. The two biggest differences are found in the cabinet finish and the cabinet warranty.

The cabinet finish performed at a manufacturing plant is far superior than a locally built cabinet because they have the ability to apply a multi-step, baked-on finish. Because of the superior finish, manufactured cabinets pass high standards as outlined by The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA). The KCMA performs many tests including applying harsh chemicals such as gasoline, acetone, mustard, tea & beet juice. The chemicals are left on the cabinets for a 24 hour period. The manufactured cabinets carried by TrueSource Cabinets all pass the KCMA testing process with superior ratings. A locally built cabinet company does not submit their product for testing. Ask a local shop if they would allow you to apply a harsh chemical (as outlined by the KCMA) to their cabinets and let it sit for 24 hours. For more information about the KCMA please visit www.kcma.org

The warranties given on manufactured cabinets carried by TrueSource Cabinets are for the lifetime of the product. The rigorous standards put forth by the KCMA result in a high quality product that will last a lifetime. Locally built cabinets offer warranties as short as 90 days. Additionally, local companies do not have the financial resources to replace a large project if something is determined to be defective. A locally built cabinet is basically sold “as is”. For complete warranty information please ask your salesperson.

To insure you will have a lifetime of enjoyment from your cabinets TrueSource Cabinets is your clear choice.
